Divergent Poster/ The Murder Complex Cover Reveal!

And here it is! It looks absolutely b-e-a-utiful! The colors are so intense and I love how the hook is placed between the words. So cool. In case you didn't see my last post about The Murder Complex, this book is going to be published in June of 2014 and it's going to be a smash hit. Here is the synopsis (taken from goodreads): Meadow Woodson, a fifteen-year-old girl who has been trained by her father to fight, to kill, and to survive in any situation, lives with her family on a houseboat in Florida. The state is controlled by The Murder Complex, an organization that tracks the population with precision. The plot starts to thicken when Meadow meets Zephyr James, who is-although he doesn't know it-one of the MC's programmed assassins. Is their meeting a coincidence? Destiny? Or part of a terrifying strategy? And will Zephyr keep Meadow from discovering the haunting truth about her family? Action-packed, blood-soaked, and chilling, this is a dark and compelling debut novel by Lindsay Cummings.

Lindsay is hosting a competition for a signed ARC on her blog which you can find here

And now the moment you have been waiting for:  the official Divergent movie poster!

I'm going to try and control my inner-fangirl as I write this. I absolutely LOVE the way we can see the crumbling buildings of dystopian Chicago. I also spy the Navy Pier Ferris wheel... *wink wink*.  I'm not sure why Four is on the ledge with Tris though. Maybe this is part of his fear landscape? Either way I am snatching this poster up ASAP.
Also an 18 second teaser for the upcoming trailer was released at the recent Thor movie. Take a look here!

I'm so excited for 2014 just because of these two things! I wish I could time travel.

The Murder Complex Cover Reveal Tomorrow!

Why the gif? Well because the cover for The Murder Complex is being released tomorrow!
Here is a summary of what the book is about (taken from Goodreads):

The Murder Complex is an action-packed, blood-soaked, futuristic thriller set in the futuristic Florida Everglades, where the murder rate is higher than the birth rate, and follows Meadow Woodson, a 15-year-old girl who has been trained by her father to fight, kill, and to survive in any situation, and Zephyr James, the orphaned boy she falls in love with, whose sole purpose is to keep her from discovering the haunting truth about her family, even if it puts them both in mortal danger.

Debut author, Lindsay Cummings, is only 20 years old (not to mention absolutely beautiful) and is exceptionally talented (obviously). I, personally cannot wait to read this! PLUS you can enter a totally awesome giveaway on her blog which you can find here. Sweet prizes and a kiss from Tobias Eaton (just kidding) are being given away! 7am is when the cover is being revealed so be sure to catch it!

Unbreakable by Elizabeth Norris Book Review

When I picked up Unraveling and Unbreakable by Elizabeth Norris I was intrigued with the story (I also wanted to have them be signed by Elizabeth so that was also an incentive). In Unraveling, I loved how Janelle is strong and steady and puts her family first. I loved where the story was going and how it was being unfolded. However, I found it very hard to get into. I usually finish books in two or three days and it took me almost two weeks for me to finish this book. I was not impressed. But, like every good book reader, you finish what you start so I started reading Unbreakable. I had absolutely no expectations for this book after the first one. I thought it would be just as boring as the last one.

Boy was I wrong.

Unbreakable is heart stopping, intriguing, and makes you wish that you could turn the pages faster. This book starts out four months after Ben's disappearance into a portal and Janelle is in her world trying to deal with the after effects of a national disaster. When Barclay shows up at her door and asks her for help, she knows something is seriously wrong. Janelle has five days to stop a human trafficking ring and save the people she loves. The countdown is on.

**SPOILERS AHEAD**

Parts of the book were really intense like when Janelle and Barclay were in his apartment under the floorboards hiding from the IA. Seriously, I could not turn the pages fast enough. But there were other parts like when Janelle and her crew freed the Unwilling that I didn't feel it. I just didn't get the feeling like I was personally in danger of that my heart rate sped up. Also I am not a fan of Ben. Sure he's sweet and romantic but I like a guy who is tough and expects that toughness out of Janelle too. That's why I am a fan of Taylor Barclay.

Barclay and Janelle are two very strong lead characters and I wish that they could have got together by the end of the novel but Elizabeth Norris had some other ideas in mind. I liked Barclay's death, as sad as it was, because it was heartbreaking to see one of my favorite characters die. He saved Janelle and her friends which makes me wonder if he actually did love her enough to sacrifice himself or if he was so dedicated to his line of work that he would do that. I don't know. I met Elizabeth a couple months ago and she gave me a copy of a alternate ending that she was going to put in a the book. I personally liked this ending better because it gave the reader a better insight as to how the characters dealt with life after everything.

** END OF SPOILER SECTION**

Unraveling and Unbreakable are two books you should pick up as soon as you can because once you start reading you won't be able to stop. The writing is great, the scenes are intense, and the characters are pretty kick-ass. You'll be rooting for Janelle on until the last page and it will definitely hook you in. Hurry and start Janelle's story!

Reboot by Amy Tinteria Book Review

Reboot is a stunning debut by Amy Tintera  that has romance and action and teaches about finding self-confidence and to stand up for what you think is right.

Amy Tintera's novel took me by surprise to say the least. What I liked most about this book is that it is beautifully written and has a unique idea. Reboot is about a girl named Wren who is shot in the chest three times when she was twelve years old. Wren wakes up 178 minutes later from her death but with a price. She is now a Reboot, a genetically engineered human who is better, faster, and stronger than the average person. She also has hardly any human feelings left after being dead for so long. Wren is one of the best soldiers at a facility called HARC, which is used to train and house Reboots. Wren is a trainer at the facility and she always has first pick of the new Reboots that come in.

When she meets Callum, a strange boy who has only been dead for a record low of twenty two minutes, she decides to train him and try to make him a better soldier. When the head of the HARC decides that Callum should be eliminated, Wren decides at maybe the HARC doesn't always know what's best for her and for the other Reboots.

I really liked the whole idea of the story. People who were already dead were brought back to life but they weren't human exactly. These genetically mutated humans aren't really androids either but something new that Amy Tintera was brilliant enough to bring to life.  It's sick and disgusting to think about humans being brought back from the dead but at the same time it's strange and new to the dystopian world.

Callum and Wren. The chemistry in this book is intense and steamy at times but also pulls on the heart strings at just the right time. At the beginning, Callum and Wren  have something that we would call "tough love". Part of training at the HARC is for the trainers to break their student's bones so if it happens in combat, they will know how to deal with the pain and learn to put their bones back in place. Gross? Absolutely. But smart. Callum lets Wren break his bones and doesn't scream like Wren thought he would but he's still not strong enough. The thing is that he's sweet and thoughtful and confident in what he believes is right which is a quality I deeply admire. I enjoyed seeing Callum and Wren's relationship grow throughout the book and seeing two totally different people (or should I say Reboots) come together and love each other despite their differences.

There was some faults in this book, however, no matter how awesome I think it is. First off, I think Wren's character didn't really go through character development. It was more like she took a pill that transformed her into a lovesick puppy. I wish we, as the readers, could have seen her become less cold in a more gradual way. One minute she doesn't like Callum but then, almost overnight, she becomes attached to him and will not let him die. Secondly, there were some scenes where Wren was telling the reader that the humans hated the Reboots and she hated them too but then she trusts one of them. I personally liked the first half of the book better than the second half but the book as a whole is something worth buying.

Reboot is perfect for someone who is looking for a fresh new dystopian trilogy that has guns and kick-butt fighting as well as endearing romance scenes that will make you swoon over this epic love story. Amy Tintera deserves two thumbs up. I can't wait to hear more from this author and see where she takes us with Callum and Wren.

Catching Fire Merch!

My mom was out doing some birthday shopping yesterday because my birthday is coming up soon and she told me that Hot Topic had Catching Fire Merchandise for sale! I am probably the last person to know about this but I wanted to share with all of you on what I really want for the premiere.

First up is the classic Mockingjay pin with the fire. I really like this one because it is really similar to the one that came out last year and I can have a mini collection of shirts by the time the movies are done. Also on the right sleeve of the shirt, it says "Hunger Games: Catching Fire" which I thought was pretty cool as well.

Here is another one with Katniss shooting the bow and arrow. If you look really close, you can see the mockingjay pin behind her. She's in her tribute outfit too!

I love the saying on the shirt. I also really like that on the back it says "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" in gold font. It's captivating and totally awesome but the only thing is that the shirt is white. Trust me when I say that if I get this shirt, I WILL spill something on it.

Out of all the shirts this one is my favorite partly because I am such a long-sleeved gal. I love how the Mockingjay pin sticks out! It gives off a gold color rather than the bronze color which is what is pictured in the first picture.

You can have all of the shirts and look totally nerdalicious (yup I just made that up) in them but you have to have the accessories!

Even though I am really poor and probably can't afford anything but the mockingjay pin and the socks, I will drool over them and obsess to my heart's content. Do you see anything you like on here? If not, here is the link to Hot Topic and Etsy  where there are many other cool Hunger Games items. Only 47 days Tributes!

The One by Kiera Cass - Cover Reveal!

If you already didn't know, I am a huge fan of The Selection Trilogy by Kiera Cass. For those of you who have no idea what I am talking about, The Selection Trilogy is about a young woman named America Singer who is of age to partipate in a contest called The Selection. In The Selection, thirty five girls in dystopian America have the chance of winning the heart of Prince Maxon, the prince and heir to the throne. America should be thrilled to have the chance to be Maxon's wife. There is just one problem: She's already in love with someone else. The thing is, once she meets Prince Maxon she starts to re-evaluate everything she's ever known.

Cool right? Well if you haven't read it leave now because it is spoilers from here on out.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The end of The Elite really made me think about what Kiera was going to do for the next book. I honestly thought the actual selection would be over by now and America would go on fighting for the castes to be gone. Obviously that didn't happen. Here's a list of what we still need to find out/ be resolved:

1) Why the northern and southern rebels took those books
2) The caste system
3) The love triangle (please be Maxon)
4) The problem with the King (he has to die)
5) The thing with Kriss and Celeste

Side note- I thought Kriss was really nice at first but then I really started to dislike her at the end of the Elite. Celeste... yeah she's still a little snot.

So there is enough for another book here and Kiera intends to make it work. A couple days ago, MTV released a video that premiered the official cover of The One and showed how they made it. Click Here to watch it.

Here is the cover for The One!

Of all the covers Kiera could I chose I really like this one. However, I don't really like that the dress is white. It gives the image that she will be getting married to Maxon at some point. I would have liked to a purple dress like the one she wore when she thought she would be going home. It symbols rebellion which is going to be a main problem in The One with America being a sort-of center to it while being in the castle under the king's watchful eye.
I love the hook at the top! "Only one girl can win the crown." EEP! Sounds awesome.

What do you think of the cover? Would you have liked to have seen a different color dress or do you like the color? What are your predictions for The One?

October Reading Haul

Hello Internet! This is Kellie here and I'd like to introduce you to a blog that is run by two amazing fangirls. Lyanna is from the Philippines and I am from the U.S. and we met on Instagram a while back. We both love books and have a passion for connecting with people so Lyanna had the idea to start a blog. I, of course, agreed to her fabulous idea and now here we are!

I never buy a lot of books at one time like some people do at B&N (who never seems to have the books I want). Instead I add them to my Goodreads to-read list and then wait for them to come out.  Since it is a new month and some great YA books are being released soon, I'd like to tell you what I have on my list.

First and foremost is How to Love by Katie Cotugno.
The cover is totally worth fangirling over:
17332564

Simple and yet makes me want to drool.
Here is the synopsis (taken from Goodreads) :

Reena Montero has loved Sawyer LeGrande for as long as she can remember: as natural as breathing, as endless as time. But he’s never seemed to notice that Reena even exists…until one day, impossibly, he does. Reena and Sawyer fall in messy, complicated love. But then Sawyer disappears from their humid Florida town without a word, leaving a devastated—and pregnant—Reena behind.

After: Almost three years have passed, and there’s a new love in Reena’s life: her daughter, Hannah. Reena’s gotten used to being without Sawyer, and she’s finally getting the hang of this strange, unexpected life. But just as swiftly and suddenly as he disappeared, Sawyer turns up again. Reena doesn’t want anything to do with him, though she’d be lying if she said Sawyer’s being back wasn’t stirring something in her. After everything that’s happened, can Reena really let herself love Sawyer LeGrande again?

The Editors at Harper Collins YA Publishing said that this book is anything but a easy read. It's heart breaking and sad and true to life. The best part about the book? It just came out today!

The second book I am literally dying to read is Allegiant by Veronica Roth. Allegiant is the 3rd and final book in the Divergent Series which is set in dystopian Chicago and tells the amazing story of Tris Prior and how she deals with her divergence within a rigid society.

Cover Peek:

(Sorry the cover is huge. I can't fix it)

Another favorite author of mine takes her spot on this list with her novel, Perfect Ruin , which came out today! Lauren also wrote The Chemical Garden series which is another favorite of mine. She is very talented in making creepy and romance mix.
Cover Peek:

Not a huge fan of the cover but here is the synopsis:
On Internment, the floating island in the clouds where 15-year-old Morgan Stockhour lives, getting too close to the edge can lead to madness. Even though Morgan's older brother, Lex, was a Jumper, Morgan vows never to end up like him. She tries her best not to mind that her life is orderly and boring, and if she ever wonders about the ground, and why it is forbidden, she takes solace in best friend Pen and her betrothed, Basil.

Then a murder, the first in a generation, rocks the city. With whispers swirling and fear on the wind, Morgan can no longer stop herself from investigating, especially when she meets Judas. He is the boy being blamed for the murder — betrothed to the victim — but Morgan is convinced of his innocence. Secrets lay at the heart of Internment, but nothing can prepare Morgan for what she will find — or who she will lose.

And last, but not least, is The Broken Hearted by Amelia Kahaney

14498145

Okay let's talk cover art. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. It's dark and yet hopeful and it is captivating to the eye. The hook at the top is awesome and really draws the reader in.
Here is the synopsis:

Prima ballerina Anthem Fleet is closely guarded by her parents in their penthouse apartment. But when she meets the handsome Gavin at a party on the wrong side of town, she is immediately drawn into his dangerous world. Then, in a tragic accident, Anthem falls to her death. She awakes in an underground lab, with a bionic heart ticking in her chest. As she navigates her new life, she uncovers the sinister truth behind those she trusted the most, and the chilling secret of her family lineage…and her duty to uphold it.

If that doesn't want to make you read it I don't know what does. But wait!! We haven't even gotten to the best part! The Broken Hearted comes out next week on the 8th!

Those are the books I am going to be reading in October. I know a lot of you will be snatching House of Hades off the shelves as well. I still have yet to read the PJO series to that will not be me, sadly. What books are you looking forward to in October? Post in the comments below and subscribe to us!
